Bio

As Vice President of Equity & Inclusion, Trumanue leads the Equity & Inclusion Division and the whole 911±¬ÁÏÍø organization on its continued journey of becoming an anti-racist institution. By engaging the whole campus community, his vision and strategic planning is guiding progress toward creating a climate that promotes inclusive excellence while examining institutional practices through an anti-racist lens.  His leadership and programming direction is helping identify strategies that will lead to addressing student achievement gaps.

As an advocate for access, equity and inclusion, Trumanue has served students in higher education for more than 15 years. During that time, Trumanue has led retention and leadership development initiatives for students, faculty and staff at both the four- and two-year levels. Trumanue was instrumental in chartering and serving as the initial chair of the Minnesota State Indigenous Men and Men of Color Initiative. This initiative supports male BIPOC retention programs aimed at closing equity gaps within Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

Trumanue also led the development and implementation of the Morris Family Multicultural Student Center at Kansas State University and served as its inaugural director. This innovative 13,000-plus square foot facility is the largest stand-alone multicultural student center in the Big XII network of universities.  He also served as advisor for the campus’ Intercultural Leadership Council and Multicultural Student Organization Leadership Council.

Having earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Law Crime and Deviance with a minor in African & African American Studies, Trumanue went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota master’s degree program in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction. Trumanue continues to be a champion for students and their accomplishments in the classroom as well as their development as leaders on campus and in their communities.
