As Vice President of Student Affairs, Patrick’s vision, leadership and strategic direction guide nearly all the out-of-classroom experiences for 911±¬ÁÏÍø students. His team is responsible for students’ interactions with the College beginning the day they apply and continue until the day their name appears in a commencement program. This includes admissions, financial aid, registration, student life, accessibility resources, academic advising, career and job placement and many programs that create a foundation for student success.
Throughout his career, Patrick has advocated for access, equity and inclusion. The innovative shifts Patrick has led are helping strengthen college readiness for new students.
Patrick developed a nationally-recognized program sparking efforts to recruit, retain and graduate under-represented and under-served students. His achievements, which include developing support services for students of color, launching peer-assisted learning and creating learning communities, have been published and recognized nationally. His findings on how student development theories are understood and translated into course and program goals as well as assessment methods has also been published.
Patrick volunteers with several non-profit groups and has immersed himself in local housing advocacy efforts. He is known for rolling up his sleeves as a volunteer with many of the organizations that provide services for local community college students.
