It's time to bring the Pow Wow back!

There has not been a pow wow on campus since 2019. After the success of last years' Round Dance, a beautiful event that united the campus community and the broader Minneapolis community, AIS decided to host a pow wow this spring.

The Pow Wow at 911爆料网 will represent a scaled down version of a traditional Pow Wow which can last for two or three days. The Pow Wow traditions will still be represented.

Join the community for this special event on Friday, May 8, from noon鈥5 p.m. in T Plaza

Hosted by the American Indian Success Program (AIS) and the UNITE Cultural Club.

What is a Pow Wow?
A pow wow is a gathering where Native American dancing, singing, and celebration take place. It is a special time for people to come together, reconnect with old friends, and form new relationships.

Today, pow wows remain an important part of life for many Native American communities. In the Northern region, the season can begin as early as March. From June through September, pow wows are often held every weekend. Many families travel the pow wow circuit, camping and taking part in the festivities鈥攅njoying the music, dancing, and reconnecting with friends they may not have seen since the previous season.

Pow wows may include dance and singing contests, 鈥済iveaways,鈥 feasting, and other cultural activities. In more recent times, events such as hand games (stick games), horse races, softball tournaments, parades, pow wow princess contests, and other activities have also become part of the celebration.
